Boy's U10's County Cup National Champions (25 Jun 2008)

Great Achievement Boys, well done

The team (David Jones, Piers Foley, Luke Purser and Oliver Lovett) played great tennis and obviously showed great heart and desire to win, they went their with the mentality that they wanted to compete for every single point, and chase down every single ball, and I am happy to say that they did this very well, we had some great athletes in our team, and in Berkshire generally”.

The format of the matches meant in most cases the doubles was a vital match, so we had been working hard on creating and closing out angles on the court. The boys again were tremendous, only dropping one set I believe in qualifiers played in Southampton two weeks earlier.

Once the last ball was hit, it was a great relief for me, as Captain, the rules meant that I could be on court watching and advising at change of ends, so I saw and felt many different emotions from the players over the two days, it was great to be able to advise them, and to see the effects of our tactical changes. The boys played great tennis from the qualifiers to the final. My advice is keep working hard boys and remember every time you come off a court you must feel that you have worked your hardest physically, mentally, technically and tactically. Keep up the great work and we should get some more great results for Berkshire.
